- Continuing resolution in place until March 2025.
- NIH Public Acccess Policy: This has been updated, and please review: https://www.nih.gov/about-nih/who-we-are/nih-director/statements/nih-issues-new-policy-speed-access-agency-funded-research-results
Upcoming Meetings:
- Spring EDRN Scientific Workshop, March 4-6, 2025 Gaithersburg
- Fall 2025: September 17-19, 2025, Nashville, TN—need to decide whether to have this meeting here. Update: The meeting will be held in Seattle, WA
Scientific Workshop: Cecilia Yeung and James Willey gave an overview of the progress of the agenda/presenters. Updates/Proposed changes:
- Poster Session: Move to the middle of the day instead of the evening
- Extend breaks to allow for networking
- Travel funds will be shared between NIDCR and NCI, so there are no issues with funding guest speakers. Update: EDRN will pay for speakers eligible for travel reimbursement.
- ESI presenters will be highlighted during the presentations and the poster session.
- Proteomics: Sudhir Srivastava wants proteomics to be covered. Sam Hanash cannot attend the workshop due to another commitment. Johannes Fahrmann could fill in for Dr. Hanash.
- Each day starts off with a keynote address. Phil Castle will present on the first day and NIDCR Acting Director Jennifer Webster Cyriaque will be invited to present right after Dr. Castle.
- Send speaker suggestions to Cecilia Yeung and James Willey
- Novel biomarker discovery: Ashley Kieman from Hopkins has been invited.
- Network Consulting Team Members will be invited.
- Cheryl Willman at Mayo has been invited to give keynote on Day 3.
- Sessions 1-4 Session on 1st day—all the panelists are lung cancer specialist—want a variety. Add Ludmil Alexandrov in the panel for Sessions 1-4
- Session 8: Eric Grogan has a junior investigator who has experience in clinical trials, and could present. Dr. Grogan will send James Willey the name of this investigator.
- Spatiomics/digital pathology: Ludmil Alexandrov was suggested as a presenter for Session 1.
- Change first day Keynotes to Plenary talks, and have them speak 1 after the other on the first day—Plenary 1 and Plenary 2: 20 minute talks and 10 minute Q&A
- Most of the invites have gone out.
- Sudhir Srivastava wants important publications or activities for biomarker discovery—combine into 1 or 2 slides, displayed on the screen during breaks at the Workshop. The information will be sent to the DMCC at edrndmcc@fredhutch.org can use carousel slides during break.
Reference Set Working Group Update: Robert Bresalier said that the group meets monthly, reviews application—average about 2 reviews a month. Concerned that there are not enough representatives from the organ groups. He is working with the Chairs of the Collaborative Groups to improve participation.
Early -Stage Investigators Working Group: Issue with attendance at monthly meetings. Sudhir Srivastava asked what would bring these investigators to the ESI meetings. Savannah Partridge offered to help. The goals of the working group needs to be more focused. Perhaps a certificate of service. Perhaps ask the ESIs at the Workshop.
Next Meeting: February 19th at 3:30 p.m. Eastern/2:30 p.m. Central/12:30 p.m. Pacific
