Download Data via IBM Aspera

  1. Email the JPL Informatics Center: Let us know the email address you would like to use to login to Aspera.
  2. Receive the Invitation: After receiving your email, we will send you an invitation to join the Aspera on Cloud instance designated for EDRN.
  3. Accept the Invitation: Look out for the email invitation in your inbox, and click the "Accept" button within the message. This action will direct you to the EDRN Aspera login page.
  4. Login to EDRN Aspera: Sign in using your Gmail credentials or your IBMid at EDRN Aspera.

Install IBM Aspera Connect

  1. Visit the IBM Aspera Connect download page.
  2. Download and install the Aspera Connect application for your operating system (Windows, Mac, or Linux).
  3. Follow the installation instructions provided on the website.

Obtain the Aspera S3 URL and Credentials

  1. You will receive an email or notification from the EDRN team with the Aspera S3 URL, access key ID, and secret access key.
  2. Ensure you have these credentials handy as you will need them for the transfer.

Launch Aspera Connect and Configure the Transfer

  1. Open the IBM Aspera Connect application.
  2. Click on File and select New Transfer.
  3. In the New Transfer window, enter the following details:
    • Host: The Aspera S3 URL
    • Username: Your access key ID
    • Password: Your secret access key
  1. Configure the transfer settings as needed, such as the download location on your local machine.

Start the Download

  1. Click OK or Start to initiate the transfer.
  2. Aspera Connect will begin downloading the data from the S3 bucket to your specified location.
  3. Monitor the progress within the Aspera Connect application. You can pause, resume, or cancel the transfer if needed.
