- Long interspersed nuclear element-1 (LINE-1 or LINE1) is subject to aberrant DNA hypomethylation. This is one of the major DNA methylation abnormalities in cancer. Studies have found a correlation between LINE-1 DNA hypomethylation and colorectal cancer.
