PAX8
Basics
Aliases:
This biomarker is also known as:- paired box gene 8,
- paired domain gene 8,
- paired box 8,
- paired box protein Pax-8,
Description…
The PAX8 gene product is a member of the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors. It is a transcription factor for the thyroid-specific expression of the genes exclusively expressed in the thyroid cell type, maintaining the functional differentiation of such cells. This nuclear protein is involved in thyroid follicular cell development and expression of thyroid-specific genes. There are several isoforms arising from multiple transcript variants.
