Epitomic Biomarkers of Prostate Cancer

Objective

Investigate novel approaches how to employ the body’s r endogenous immune response as a natural "amplification strategy" for detection of prostate cancer and to apply this strategy to develop a serum-based test for detection of prostate cancer.

Program Description

A multidisciplinary group focused on discovery and development of new markers for early detection of prostate cancer based on molecular approaches for discovery of prostate auto-antibodies and auto-antigens in the serum of prostate cancer patients.

Specific Aims

  • Characterize and validate the humoral immune response to AMACR in different patient cohorts.
  • Employ high-throughput phage epitope microarrays to identify candidate humoral response markers of prostate cancer.
  • Define and develop a multiplexed protein/epitope microarray to identify prostate cancer based on humoral response.
